County Executive Discusses MTA
Lawsuit, Water Conservation on Weekend Talk Show
August 18, 2010 - The Rockland County Executive will discuss the
County’s recent lawsuit against the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority (MTA) and the Health Department’s request that residents
conserve water during this unusually dry summer.

Health Asks Residents to Conserve Water
August 16, 2010 - Due to excessive hot weather and below-average
rainfall in Rockland so far this summer and the subsequent depletion
of the county’s water supply, the Rockland County Department of
Health is asking residents to voluntarily conserve water.
Rockland County Sues MTA for
“Unconstitutional” Payroll Tax
August 13, 2010 - County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef announced
that Rockland would file suit against the Metropolitan
Transportation Authority (MTA), stating that the mobility tax levied
by the State on behalf of the agency earlier this year is a
violation of the New York State Constitution.

Director of County Tourism Department
August 12, 2010 - County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef today
named his spokeswoman, CJ Miller, as the new Director of the
Rockland County Tourism Department.
On-Line Local Government Surplus Vehicle Auction To Be Held August

The County of Rockland will hold an on-line surplus vehicle
auction beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 16th, 2010 and ending

the winners of the Hudson Valley Regional Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) Awards.

Farming Initiative
June 29, 2010 - County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef, along with
Legislative Chairperson Harriet Cornell and members of the
Clarkstown Town Board, announced the signing of an agreement between
the County, the Town of Clarkstown and the Rockland Farm Alliance to
actively cultivate the Cropsey Farm in New City.

Visits Underway for Railroad Crossing Safety/Quiet Zone Project
June 21, 2010 - County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef announced
at the Highview Avenue railroad crossing in Orangeburg that a
Diagnostic Team Review (DTR) for the Railroad Crossing Safety and
Quiet Zone Project is currently underway along the West Shore Line.
County Working with Pfizer to
Utilize Buildings on Pearl River Campus
June 15, 2010 - Rockland is working with one of its largest
employers, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, to re-use buildings and office
space on its Pearl River campus that could become vacant as a result
of a recent downsizing by the pharmaceutical manufacturer.
